Subsidized Tree Planting Program

Tree planting is an invaluable initiative that can improve water quality, reduce soil erosion, create and enhance forest wildlife habitats and biodiversity, increase farmland productivity, and among many other benefits – enrich and improve individual and community well-being.

The subsidized tree planting program that we deliver provides a great opportunity for landowners throughout Canada to increase forest cover on their property more easily and affordably – benefiting from all that forests have to offer.

How Our Program Works!

We are a Planting Delivery Agent (PDA) for Forests Canada and provide a full-service tree planting program which includes site assessments, project planning & mapping, land preparation, the purchasing of seedlings, tree planting services, and post-plant tending, all at a subsidized cost.

To be eligible for this program, landowners must:

  • Have an open planting area of at least 0.5 acre in size, and/or be able to support a minimum of 500 trees for afforestation projects

  • Have a planting area of at least 2.5 acres (1 hectare) in size for restoration projects

  • Have a 1000 metre distance of land for windrow or riparian buffer planting

  • Sign a Landowner Tree Planting Agreement that ensures the protection and management of the planting project for 15 years.

How much does it cost?

Landowners are required to make a payment towards the purchase of each tree seedling at a rate of $1.00 for coniferous seedlings and $1.75 for deciduous seedlings. This cost is based on current wholesale pricing of the tree seedlings, and must be paid in full upon entering the Landowner Tree Planting Agreement.

If the landowner provides an in-kind contribution for their tree planting project, they may be eligible for a lower contribution cost per tree.
